When I found this nifty jumper I was thrilled. I had all these ideas of what I would wear and how I would wear it. But, then I thought can I really pull this off. I am in suburbia and suburbia is always two years behind any new trend. So, being me I thought who gives a hoot hoot. When I got to work I promised everyone that I would wear this and well here it is. I couldn't believe how many people, young and old responded by this look and asked where did I get this jumper. I guess it was worth going all over town and looking for a good find. Here's to you Nikki. Have an awesome summer and kick but, up north.

Off To Work I Go

Dis is a little something that I thought of wearing since I've had these pants for nearly two years and never wore. One I was fat and couldn't fit them and, 2 I really had nothing to go with them that would be flattering. I loved the cut of them and they are pink linen, so a little see through and Hello ass. I am glad that I got to wear them and since it is about time to really start wearing the stuff I have in this tiny closet of mine where nothing really fits because of my huge addiction to clothing well, you know how it is fellow fashionistas. Most of the what I am wearing is going to be the challenge of what can I put together that is in my closet. If you are a true stylist you can work anything and that's your own closet. Getting ready for a prosperous day at work. I just loved the belt. It was a great find at the LF store in Santa Barbara during the Summer Solstice Festival.

Santa Barbara Summer Solstice

This past weekend was the Santa Barbara Summer Solstice. This amazing street fair simply goes off. There are tens of thousands of people just all over the street waiting to see such a spectacle. There are vendors with all kinds of trinkets, clothes, and all sorts of wares. You can also watch the hula hoopers and dance to one of the local dj's. If your down for some chow don't worry their are plenty of restaurants and vendors at the park to tempt you. If your thirsty you can hang out at the beer garden and just relax and catch up with some friends. This year we made sure that we stayed overnight. If you want an awesome place to stay with great ambiance, then check out the Canary hotel. It is just one block from state street and walking distance to everything from shopping to the beach. When you go check out Tulepo Junction resturant. Ohhh myy gooodness. Thee best food in town. We go their everytime we are in the SB. Here are a few images of the event.

Sorry Been Out

Sorry for the delay. I have been so busy with the new job and the heavy hours, that I need to start to get a schedule for these things. Those of you who don't know me well, I started a new job and I love it. So, now that things are stable I have to fit the blogging in. It's bad when you just don't have time. This was today's work outfit. I was delighted to find this Harkam top at a thrift store. Sometimes people don't know what they have. The vest is Rachel Roy before she got very expensive. I am glad that I have a few of her pieces in my closet. I decided that I needed to really start wearing the clothes in my closet. I am a sick individual, I can't stop shopping and wanting. I love clothes but, my closet has to be re-done every month just to fit things in. It is well organized but, it can get a little out of control and then I forget what I have. I always have to remember that quality is better than quantity.

Zip Me Up

Gotta have these leggings. Just when you start to hate a trend then something special comes along. These zipper leggings by LNA are just absolutely fab. Their a mix of cotton and spandex and come in a assorted of delicious colors to choose from. Though they don't come by cheap, their still a staple must have in my wardrobe. You can get them here.

I stumbled upon this designer and just love the silhouettes of her dresses. It's about time I see something different than the shift dress. I still like the shift here and there but, this look is a little sexier. You know when the mall stores start catching on then it's time to come up with something new. It's sporty, fun, and edgy. Kudos to Harlan Bel.

Blazer Inspired

Here are just a few inspirational ways of wearing the blazer. This look can be dressed up or dressed down. It's a look that any woman can pull off. The first time I saw this trend arise, I thought to myself, I gotta get to the thrift stores. If there is anything in the thrift stores it is tons of blazers. Blazers in every color, shape, and size. I happened to find vintage Calvin Klein, Donna Karen Signature, and a slew of tuxedo blazers for women. I even found a military band jacket blazer by Karen Kane that is just phenomenal. Now, if I can only find a tuxedo style with the tail and I will be in blazer heaven. Cross my fingers.

Okay, I look like I am trying to take flight not once but, twice. This one is a self timer picture and to get the frame I had to do it. This is my Saturday outfit. My sister and I got up early to get to this estate sale. I must say people are crazy. I got pushed in the frenzy to get to nothing, go figure. But, I did find this great hat and it has a feather on the size. I also got a couple of vests and a necklace. So, in the long run it was worth the madness.

Sex In The City

Aah, the anticipation of the Sex in the City. It was everything that I hope for, being a long time fan since day one. If anything that inspired me the most about fashion was tuning in every Sunday to see what Carrie was wearing, then try to replicate it some how and some way. As I still watch some of my favorite episodes, I think to myself how timeless some of the styles were and still are. I remember the time when Carrie was sporting the shawls and ponchos and how everyone had a shawl and poncho or was making grandma make them a shawl and poncho. It grew into this crazy phenomena of knit making housewives who sold their creations like watch dealers on the corners of the streets. Those were the days. How we felt like one of those girls in some point of our lives and could really relate to all those trying relationships. I must say I was happy about the outcome of the movie and hope all other Sex in the City fans felt the same way. I betcha there were probably more fashionistas and cosmos out there than stars in the sky. And like my sister and my friend said, this is the time for all the boys to be out at the movies. Every girl in America was out that night.

Feeling Minnesota

My week of absence was due to a trip to Minnesota. To my chagrin, I was actually blown away by the twin cities. While I was there I made sure to scope out the local action and see what these cities were all about. It felt like Europe meets New York City, but in a much smaller scale. The people are so friendly and even though I continually got lost everywhere I went, I seemed to get my gumption and get back on trail. See, here in Cali, you have the mountains and the ocean as a navigational source but, there you have the Great Plains. I felt literally upside down and inside out. Towards the end I got the hang of it and what better to find your way around is to get lost.

First stop was the Mill District. Minnesota is known for milling. Pillsbury, Gold Medal, and all your favorite cereals as a kid come from this area. But, what I love best about it was how they kept the natural look of the city through their architecture. The old buildings were just modified with a little bit of modern and it was cool. Gold Medal Park was an urban dynasty that kissed the Mississippi River. It has so much character to it, the old with the new. It has a little bit of American history still holding on to it.

Other amazing Museums that I had the pleasure of seeing was the Walker Museum. While I was there I got to see the Richard Prince exhibition. It was absolutely amazing. The one thing about traveling to different places is given the opportunity to see such incredible art, amazing shopping, which I will get to, delicious food.

Sculpture Garden

During the times my sister was on business, my business was to get lost finding things to see. Along the journey I discovered the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota. The building was designed by legendary Frank Gehry. The collection was of early 20th century American and contemporary art. Here are a few of my favorites along the way.

There are many places to shop in the Twin Cities. Time was limited to get to everything and though, I wished that I could have done it all, sometimes all is just to impossible. I took heed to what the locals said to do for shopping and explored as much of the excitement as I possibly could. The first place that we ventured to was Uptown. Calhoun Square reminded me a lot like our good ole Melrose avenue, lower melrose. The have unique shops such as Luna, American Apparel and other little cute thrift stores and trendy spots. You can also take a stroll around Lake Calhoun and see the most amazing view of the city and spot some not so bad looking mansions around the lake.

We actually got a glance at Mall of America, but barely had enough time to really see because we were in the Nordstrom for so long. Is it big? It's ginormous. If you can fit a shark aquarium, mini Disneyland, and over 500 stores, than that is big. It was cool to see but we had other plans for our time at that was local boutiques. One section that I wish we got to see was Edina boutiques at the intersection of 50th and France but, time eluded us. This was the high end section and maybe with our spending was probably better to say yeah we did it but, really didn't.


Our next stop was to make sure that not only did we get in as much as possible but, it was important to see both cities as much as possible. So, we decided to go to St. Paul and do a little shopping. The popular spot is Grand Ave. Though you can't really walk the Street there was plenty of it to see. Along the way we hit a couple of cute vintage stores and continued on our journey. One of the stops was Up Six a vintage, retro, and furniture store. They had very cute picks to choose from. We chose an amazing leather jacket. Another cool store is LuLu around the corner. Grand Avenue in St. Paul is great place to shop and see some amazing historical buildings Along Grand we stop by a very cute shop called Danish Bohemia where you can find the cutest items all Danish inspired. Inside Danish Bohemia is darling tea spot where you can get some amazing teas. The Northern Lights Tea Company, has the most amazing blends of teas. I am a huge fan of tea and had to get some for home. When Sandra, the owner, opened up the canisters the aroma of the teas just blew me away. I had to have them. She is very knowledgeable about the regions and what makes up that particular tea. All the teas are organic and are fair trade. So, at the same time your getting your favorite tea, you can feel good that you are contributing to something great, being Green. Another great shop was Karma. Karma was actually written up in Lucky magazine as one of the places to shop in the Twin Cities. My sister's Closet was a 2 story vintage store that had the cutest vintage clothing and contemporary clothing. You name it and she had it. What makes these boutiques so amazing is that they are located in the historical houses along the street. Check out some of my pix.
